Canesten ‘owned’ the thrush category, but the launch of an oral treatment by a competitor represented a major threat. By interrogating the differences between the two products, we were able to create a striking pharmacy campaign reinforcing Canesten’s major strengths and highlighting the competitor’s weak areas. As a result, the competitor launched and yet Canesten recommendations and sales actually increased.
